Its name comes from the Turk Daoud Pasha, who lived in Lebanon and was conquered by this dish.

  • ½ kg of ground beef (or lamb)
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • 2 medium onions
  • kofta spices (pepper, cumin, cinnamon, coriander, ginger, nutmeg)
  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 carrot
  • tomato paste (3 tablespoons)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

PREPARATION OF THE RECIPE "Daoud Pasha" - Baked meatballs with tomato sauce:

Grind the meat and add the parsley and an onion passed through the meat machine (or mixer). Add the kofta spices and salt; mix well. With your hand soaked in water, make some meatballs that are given a cylindrical shape and place them in an oven tray all around.

In the middle of the tray are placed:

-a sliced ​​onion

-2 sliced ​​potatoes

-the sliced ​​carrot

-the pepper cut into rounds

- 2 tomatoes cut in half into rounds (tomatoes are also placed between meatballs)

Dilute the tomato paste with hot water, season with salt and pour into the pan. Place in the oven heated to 220 degrees and when it starts to boil, reduce the temperature to 180 degrees. Leave in the oven for about 45 minutes or until the meatballs are browned.

Serve with plain rice or boiled rice with noodles and assorted pickles. Good appetite!
